Welcome back everyone. We just wrapped up another exciting event – well two really. IMTS and Hannover Messe USA, 2018 were so amazing this year and we want to share with you all of the amazing things we experienced at these two phenomenal events. Let’s get started!
We actually attended the event with two of our sister companies, EPLAN and Rittal – so there were three companies in one booth. Of course CIDEON, as you probably already know, is a platinum partner of SAP and end-to-end engineering solution provider for the complete mechatronic integration in SAP PLM – based on SAP Engineering Control Center. Rittal is a world leading supplier for enclosures, power distribution, climate control, IT infrastructure and software and services. EPLAN delivers services for developing CAx, configuration and mechatronic solutions – and guides businesses on how to enhance their engineering processes, with both consistent as well as tailored interfaces to ERP and PLM/PDM systems that warrant data consistency in product development, order processing and manufacturing. Pretty exciting!
First off, what is IMTS? IMTS is the largest manufacturing show in the United States. It is all about manufacturing thriving, featuring cutting edge technology. Exhibitors and visitors to IMTS showed a real passion for manufacturing. Industry professionals from all over the country – and even the world – attended IMTS this year. There were over 15,000 new machine tools, controls, computers, software, components, systems and processes, more than 2,400 exhibitors and nearly 130,000 registrants! In addition to IMTS there were adjacent shows to the event including Hannover Messe USA.
What is Hannover Messe USA? Hannover Messe USA is the premier event stemming from it’s parent, Hannover Messe which takes place each year in Hannover, Germany. Hannover Messe is the number one trade fair in the world focusing on industrial technology including R&D, industrial automation, IT, industrial supply, production technologies and services to energy and mobility technologies. Hannover Messe focuses on leading industry topics like Digital Twin and Industry 4.0. Industry 4.0 benefits many businesses. ”Machine production is networked into a self-learning system using cutting-edge communication technology. The foundation for this modern industrial revolution is the Internet of Things (IoT), which enables continuous data exchange between all participating units – from the production robot to inventory management to the microchip. This connects all production and logistics processes together, making our industry more intelligent, efficient and sustainable.” You can learn more on the Hannover Messe website.
Of course there was a lot of cool stuff to see across the board – a few shots:
SAP also brought out the end to end manufacturing suite at IMTS/Hannover Messe 2018 featuring the digital twin, virtual reality, and more. Visitors were invited to join a tour, stepping through each live manufacturing scenario while learning about the digital twin, Industry 4.0, and IoT/IIoT. According to Bernd Leukert, Member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, Products & Innovation, “The solution provides shared views of digital twin information for customers to gain live insights on new products and to store, share and review engineering documents with internal and external participants.”
Making waves and spotted wearing “You heard it here first” shirts, Makino – announced something very exciting! Makino revealed Athena, the world’s first talking and thinking machine tool. The function of it is comparable to Amazon’s Alexa and Apple’s Siri – with practical application in the discrete manufacturing world. Pretty amazing technology!
In conclusion there was a lot to see at IMTS 2018 and Hannover Messe 2018! Amazing technology, innovative machinery and awesome engineering. We hope you had a chance to make it to this phenomenal event. Stay tuned for upcoming events!
