SAP Connected Product Lifecycle was first showcased at the Hannover Industrial Fair in 2016. This video provides a high level overview of the various aspects of a connected product lifecycle in SAP including SAP Engineering Control Center (ECTR) and how it makes your business more efficient. Take a quick look at the video.

The example shown is a Mobilair compressor from KAESER Kompressoren, and the benefits of a closed loop PLM that makes it possible for the person or business to proficiently manage all parts of the process – including preliminary requests for an engineering change, through early product estimation, to the delivery to manufacturing and observing of the change – ultimately providing feedback and making products better. In addition to mechanical changes, one can see just how simple it is to integrate electric and software changes within the product structure itself.

With a quick look at costs for redesign and the potential for compressor sales the U.S. market, KAESER is easily able to calculate and weigh options as all their data is in SAP, the fully integrated PLM solution, and a costing estimate is easily established. This is because you can seamlessly add and remove components as well as calculate costs at a preliminary stage very accurately – even for the future!

Additionally, SAP ECTR gives you everything you will need for an efficient, accurate redesign – by allowing one place to access the most up to date versions of design documents and related product data and tools.

Integration to the Software Control Center makes it possible for one to adjust and assign the software needed for the redesign of (in this case) the rear lights. As soon as the design phase is complete and approved, the torch is passed to manufacturing. By taking the existing engineering data, one can easily generate manufacturing bills of materials and routings including work instructions and other necessary details to get the product out the door.

As stated in the introduction, this shows the benefits of a closed loop PLM solution that makes it possible businesses to easily and seamlessly manage all parts of the process – from the preliminary request for an engineering change, through early product estimation, to the delivery to manufacturing and observing of the change, and beyond. The visualization features for all product parts is a huge benefit. Overall, the SAP Connected Product Lifecycle could change the way you do business. Questions? Want to learn more?
